Why you should disable AutoPlay to help stop Malware

Security Watch Island Hopping: The Infectious Allure of Vendor Swag

Jesper M. Johansson

The technique of island hopping-penetrating a network through a weak link and then hopping around systems within that network-has been around for years. But it continues to take on new dimensions. In today's security-conscious IT environments, people are often the weakest link, and malicious users are

finding ways to use this to their advantage (think phishing and other forms of social engineering). This combination of carbon and silicon can prove fatal to your network.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.01.securitywatch.aspx

This is scary ....

A Technique for Determining the I/O Hog in your Database

A great article on Performance Tuning SQL Server

http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/mmorin/2573.asp

Summary:
Performance Tuning can be as much an art as a science when working with SQL Server, but there are many fine techniques that can help you get started. New author Michael Morin brings a great new technique helping you get started on determining where the heavy I/O users are in your database.

Remote Desktops MMC Snap-In

Windows Server 2003 provides the ability to connect to the console (session 0) of a computer by using a Remote Desktop connection.

There are two ways to accomplish this.

1. Using the following command "mstsc /console".

2. Using the Remote Desktops MMC Snap-in, "tsmmc.msc". This is include with a 2003 Server install or can be added to XP with "Adminpak.msi" (Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack for XP)

President Bush Addresses the Nation - The night of the invasion 3/19/03

In a disscussion this evening a friend stated that President Bush said we would be in and out of Iraq in a few months.... <sigh> Nothing could be further from the truth. From the begining he has always stated that this would be long and difficult struggle.

President Bush Addresses the Nation - The night of the invasion 3/19/03
"A campaign on the harsh terrain of a nation as large as California could be longer and more difficult than some predict. And helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/03/20030319-17.html
